with etsy's awful algorithm that allows drop-shippers to shine, let's highlight some gems.

Etsy has become a household name and a regular site where most people I know shop. I buy gifts for friends and family on Etsy and have been spending a lot of time on the platform since I am getting married soon,(hehe yay) sourcing most things from small businesses on there. While it is a magical platform to find amazing little gems, it also holds a huge error within its algorithm that has bloomed in the past few years. Etsy is FULL of drop shippers. Full of them. When you look up anything on the platform, it almost always pumps out dropshipped content first. It’s off-putting, that a platform made to let small businesses shine is now being overrun by people printing off thousands of shirts a day that say “Keep Calm and Drink Vino.”

With this overrunning, finding meaningful goods on Etsy feels like a challenge. I spend hours upon hours trying to find print material for my wedding that isn’t plagued with that awful cursive font. The cost of some goods is suspiciously low and has made me begin to resent the platform. I don’t want to scroll a page and see 10 of the same thing at a variety of bordering unethical feeling price points.

With this, I am beginning to be an Etsy pro. I have spent so much time on the platform at this point, that I have grown quite a favorite collection on my profile. With that, I wanted to share some cute things I have found on the platform. In the future, I will also make a wedding curated one, for my future brides out there!
